Jesus Christ Superstar is a monument in musical history. This Rock Opera released in October 1970 was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The work centers around the last seven days of Christ's life seen through the eyes of Judas.
The Sound of Music (June 4 – July 27)
Based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the spirited young woman who leaves the convent to become governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, an autocratic widower whose strict household rules leave no room for music or merriment. Through her youthfulness and zest for life she brings happiness and love to the von Trapp family. A timeless family classic which touches the hearts of all ages, the score brims over with some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favorite Things, Do Re Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Every Mountain, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music.
Little Shop of Horror (July 30 - August 31)
Seymour Krelbourn is a poor young man working at a run-down flower shop on skid row when he encounters a miracle. He discovers an alien plant after a total eclipse of the sun. After bringing the plant to the store, he gains fame, fortune, and love. The only defect is that the plant feeds on human blood. Seymour and the plant make a deal that if the plant continues to bring Seymour positive attention, he will in turn continue to feed the plant human bodies.
